How the West Was Won

Everything that could be said about Endtroducing….. has been said better elsewhere on music forums throughout the internet, but there’s something truly special about this album that you can’t even begin to sum up in words. From the ghostly choir opening of Building Steam with A Grain of Salt to the eerie sampling and sharp breathing on Mutual Slump (“Do you feel like Darth Vader?”) there’s something incredibly dark going on amongst what is arguably the greatest use of samples in a record ever. Bold statement considering the entire thing practically consists of solely samples. Midnight in a Perfect World is for me the atmospheric highlight of the album, the alternative version with the entire monologue in place also worth checking out.
